The HST-S switches can be used to control access to dangerous machinery. When the key is removed the power to the machine is isolated. The key can then be used to release an access interlock on the door in the guarding surrounding the machine. This ensures that when the door is unlocked the machine is off, and is therefore in a safe condition. Solenoid release switches are available, as shown below, which only allow the key to released when a signal is provided (for eample when a machine is stopped and in a safe condition).
